Damien Gossett is an multidisciplinary artist currently residing in Joshua Tree and Oakland, California. He is practiced in painting, photography, poetry and and sound. He uses all to reveal the color and shape of the cosmos. To define the inside, the outside and the space between. To reflect upon what is and isn’t there, a series of points that may or may not exist. To provide a pathway to assist in the development of a vision to be perceived by the viewer.
Damien has published three books of photography, Light Dust Dark, words and images from Joshua Tree, Shoes and Singularities, and Not Color, the desert. Images from the desert and a narrative of discarded random shoe(s) found on city streets or abandoned in nature.
He has written, produced and performed three electronic music cassette tapes, dance 87, R(r), the eighteenth letter of the alphabet and thRE moved. The tapes were reviewed in “Keyboard Magazine”, “Music and Technology” and “Missing Link Music”. He also composed the score, wrote the libretto and created the graphics for The Magic Lantern, an operetta in one act constructed and produced for an online audience.
As a painter/photographer he has been selected for showings in Minneapolis, MN; Portland OR, Los Angeles, CA, Joshua Tree, CA, Oceanside, CA, Twentynine Palms, CA and in online galleries centered and east and west coasts.
Damien studied at Reed College, Portland. OR, the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN and California State University, East Bay. He holds a Bachelor s of Arts, Painting and a Masters of Science in Multimedia.
